Water District
Hector Water District Mission Statement
To provide a safe and reliable supply of potable water to our customers within the district service area and to ensure that the Town water supply meets or exceeds water quality standards as defined by the Safe Drinking Water Act and the New York State Department of Health.
Water Supply, Storage and Distribution
The Hector Water District is a municipally owned and operated water utility providing both domestic water and fire protection to a majority of the State Route 414 corridor in the Town of Hector. Currently there are approximately 645 active accounts. The water supply for the Town comes from two gravel packed groundwater wells and one infiltration gallery. In addition to the municipal wells, the Water Department is responsible for the maintenance and operation of a water treatment plant and a distribution system consisting of 3 storage tanks, 10 main line pressure regulating valves with 9 pressure zones, 4 pump stations, 198 fire hydrants and 25 miles of distribution piping.
The Water Department employs 2 full-time and one part-time employees. All staff (with the exception of the part-time clerical position) must maintain a NYS Water Operator certificate in both distribution and treatment.
Distribution Area
The Hector Water District includes the hamlets of Valois, Hector and Logan, as well as the Village of Burdett. It also provides water to County Route 2, County Route 4 (1 mile) and County Route 5, the Peach Orchard Point area, Smith Memorial Park, Mathews Road, Bassett Road, and North and South Falls Road.
