Building Permits

Building Permits are required for additions to existing buildings, installations of manufactured homes, renovations and any residential/commercial construction, garages, pools, solid fuel burning devices, any electrical or plumbing work.  Stamped Architect/Engineer drawings are required for residential construction over 1500 square feet and any commercial construction.  Any non-residential construction under 140 square feet does not require a permit.

Septic System Permits

Septic System Permits are issued by Schuyler County Watershed Department: 910 S. Decatur Street, Watkins Glen. (607) 535-6868.

Junk Vehicles

If you have two, three or more vehicles that are unregistered, uninspected, inoperative and unroadworthy stored outside on your property, you are in violation of NYS General Municipal Law Sec. 136 and NYS Property Maintenance Code Sec. 302.8. The Town Code Enforcement Officer may issue a citation ordering for the removal of these vehicles considered to be junk.

Code Enforcement Officer

Jason Santobianco started as our new Code Enforcement Officer on May 24, 2019.  He has issued many permits already and is actively inspecting projects with open permits.  He will be checking on progress of projects with open permits regularly.  If you have a project due for an inspection, please call the office or the cell phone to schedule an inspection.
