Town Clerk

The Town Clerk an elected official with a 4 year term. The clerk is charged with record keeping and issuing licenses, permits and legal notices.  They attend and record the town board's monthly meeting minutes although have no vote themself. In many ways the town clerk is the 'eyes and ears' of the town with the most direct interaction with residents in the hub of local governance at the Town Hall.

Jane Ike  -  Town Clerk & Tax Collector (1988-2025)

Born in Ithaca and raised in Mecklenburg, Jane has been Hector Town Clerk/Tax Collector since 1988 as well as Court Clerk and Water Collection Clerk.  Jane was awarded NYSTCA District #6 District Clerk of the Year in 2009 and served from 2011-2013 as NYSTCA District #6 District Director.  She currently serves the community in various other ways: as Treasurer for the Chemung Schuyler Municipal Clerk’s Association and the Twin Lakes Snowmobile Association, as Co-President of the Mecklenburg Volunteer Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary, and in the past as a 4-H Leader for 20 years.  In her private life,  Jane is married to Steve; has 4 children; 6 grandchildren and enjoys flower gardening, snowmobiling, hunting and Sporter-rifle competitions.
